Media Update...

It's been a while, I can't even remember the last items that I reviewed, however I'll try and give an opinion on a the most recent I've enjoyed:

1). ERAGON, (book), by Christopher Paolini
My Rating: 6.3.
While I do realize that one must take into account the fact that I am not a fantasy reader (I've never read nor watched the Lord of the Rings), I decided to read this book to see what the craze was all about. I did enjoy the book, parts of it much more than others. At times I felt that book seemed to lag, and there was much repetition of Eragon and his traveling party being attacked, and later rescued. What I did, however, enjoy was the colorful descriptions of the fantasy world of Agalaesia (can't quite remember the spelling) in which humans, elves, dwarves all exist as well as an evil king and his amalgam of evil creatures. The descriptive writing created a world equal or better than what I can imagine is portrayed in the Lord of the Rings movies. All in all, I was very impressed to learn that the writer wrote the book at the ripe old age of 16. wow! Recommend? Yes, read it...but make sure you have time on your hands, it's a thick one.

*Side Note* A quote from Eragon that I found intriguing and worth thinking about:
Saphira (the dragon) to Eragon: "The worth is in the act. Your worth halts when you surrender the will to change and experience life."
--Eragaon, pg. 93. Christopher Paolioni

2). That 70s Show, Season 2 & 3 (tv show).
My Rating 7.0.
This show is just good old classic fun. Comprised mostly of teenage boys mocking each other and fighting over girls, it's pretty basic entertainment, and yet you find yourself endeared to the characters, despite their ridiculousness. Recommended? For a light hearted mood...yep, watch it.

3). ALIAS Season 3 -
My Rating 9.2
Yep, you already know I love this show, but I do have to say that seasons 1 and 3 are my favorites. Season 2 seems to lag a little in story line, 3 picks up and is probably the best season. Full of danger, love, betrayal, ass-kicking...it comes highly recommended by yours truly.

4). Monk Season 1 - I finally finished it! It took me a long time...
My Rating 7.0
I think I actually rated this once before but that was before I had watched it in its entirety. I enjoyed the show although it also, was a bit slow at times. It is by no means an action packed detective show, like most, however for the logical thinker it is enjoyable...and so far I have figured out most of the cases before Monk did. woo hoo! Maybe I should be a detective. While most people watching the show can be annoyed with his neurosis I found it mildly comforting as they seem to be simply magnifications of my own "obsessions"...like cleaning. Perhaps I've just divulged more of myself than you needed to know...oops! :)

I know that I have read and watched more than these 4 items in the last couple of weeks but those titles and subject seem to escape me at the moment...I'm currently in the midst of watched the second season of HEROES and reading...*drumroll please* TWILIGHT. You heard my correctly. While my inital opinion is to be skeptical of the craze over this pre-teen book about vampires, set in a town close to where I grew up (and which I know to be the most boring place on earth) I decided that I had to at least see what all the hype is about...so, an update to come soon....

Until then....thanks for reading! Merry rainy day from my work computer to yours ;)

I know you don't like long movies, but I think one day you should give Lord of the Rings a try. Actually just read the books, yes it could be considered a lengthy commitment, and instead of ready multiple stories as you do now you would be "stuck" with just the one, but I think by the end you would be delighted to have had your mind filled with the fantastic world of Middle Earth for so long. ;)
